I just graduated from the 12 week electrical pre-apprentice program from Skilled Trades College of Canada. I absolutely loved this program. Lots of hands on work to get you comfortable with things you will be doing out in the field and it balances out the bookwork so it doesn’t really feel like school. Mario was my instructor and he is hands down the best there is. He is very thorough at explaining and always there to help you if you’re stuck and motivate you to do the best you can. This program equips you with the skills and tools you need for the real world and I feel very confident in going out into the field. I would recommend this program to anyone looking to get into the electrical trade. The knowledge and experience you gain from this program is priceless.
I spent the last 12 weeks with skilled trades college of Canada for the pre apprenticeship plumbing course, and It was a great and very knowledgable experience, I have learned so much in the last 12 weeks. Overall the college was great, and you definetely get your money’s worth. They are the nicest people and are really there to help you and guide you, I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor either.
I would definitely recommended anyone who wants to get into the trades, particularly in plumbing, to check out the skilled trades college of Canada.
As a recent alumni of this course, I will definitely say this is the best money you will ever spend planning for your future, as you get it all back in the classroom. I’ve tried the bigger community colleges before, but I can proudly say Skilled Trades College is the best education you’ll ever receive for your experience in the field. With helpful teachers and staff that want to help you succeed, state of the art tools, and advanced training of up to a second year apprentice, everything you need is all in this college. I would definitely recommend this college to anyone and everyone who asks me where I got all this training from. Thank you again Skilled Trades for an amazing education!
I absolutely loved the program STC offers. The experience was amazing! My teacher Mario was very knowledgeable and thorough with showing us what we would need to know going out into the field. Upon graduating I felt very comfortable going to work and being on site. Everything I learned was a big part of the first step for me and creating a good foundation for me to start my career. I would recommend STC to anyone thinking about getting into the electrical field!
I signed up with the college because I wanted to switch my career and become an electrician. Once I completed the course, I went from basically no knowledge or experience to being able to wire up anything in a home on paper and in a real life setting. Since graduation I’ve recently got into a union and will start work soon in toronto. The knowledge and skills I developed at the college set me way above anyone who doesn’t already have years of experience. If you really want to dive into this industry and have no experience, this school will set you up for success, provided you follow up. Highly recommended.
I started STC in January 2016 for Electrical and finished at the end of March 2016. The course was very well put together and I learned a lot everyday I went. The school was very kind and really helped every step of the way .
I now work for Ozz Electric thanks to the STC, I wouldn’t have been able to get where I am now without their help!
I attended the Mississauga campus for the 6 month part time course in 2016/2017 with Joe as the instructor. There was a lot of ground to cover and despite the limited timeframe I went from knowing basically nothing about plumbing to far more than I ever would have expected. In retrospect I was actually shocked at just how much I ended up learning. The course covered an overview of plumbing systems as well as in depth facts, code, blueprint reading and uses for tons of different aspects of plumbing. They also had hands on assignments where I set up piping systems, water lines, roughed in several fixtures and practiced soldering and cutting pipes, among other things. On top of that they also got me several necessary safety certifications. It’s quite in depth overall. Joe himself was very knowledgable and aside from just the course material, gave us stories and information about the his experiences in the plumbing industry, including how to act, what kinds of people to expect and what to look out for. His stories about working with “The Terminator” were great, if you get the chance to ask, do it.
The downside is that given the limited time frame we had and how much information it was, not all of it got as much time as I would have liked, but that’s the nature of the beast.
I wouldn’t have bothered writing this review if the course hadn’t left me with enough knowledge to actually get a job in the plumbing industry, which I did by knockng on company doors. I had my job on the 4th door of the first day. Maybe it’s not always that simple, but when you really want something you go get it. This course gave me what I needed to get into the industry I wanted, and now I’m there.
Graduated skilled trades college of Canada with the help of the amazing staff and teacher John. Had such a blast the faculty and environment is great and really push you to succeed. I’ve been working for an electrical company as an apprentice for almost a month now I found a job 4 days after graduating. they give you all the skills and tools you need to be successful and find work fast.
This college is a great place to learn. The instructors and administration are wonderful (Liz is awesome and Teresa is always at the door with a hello and a smile!) they are always around to answer questions, lend an ear or even share a laugh. The curriculum is delivered at a fast pace so missing even a single class isn’t an option. The shop work that you do daily really imprints the skills and techniques that you will be applying on the job site. Once you start drawing your own diagrams, shop gets a lot more fun and interesting. My instructor is Mario, he is without a doubt, one of the best teachers I have learned under. His methods are unorthodox in that he doesn’t think LIKE a teacher, he thinks FOR the student, making learning easier by breaking things down to their basic level so that it can be comprehended easily and retained.
Overall, my time here has been great so far! I am completely satisfied with my decision to attend the college and can’t wait to graduate and get into the field again!
I enrolled in the part time plumbing course offered at the campus in Vaughan. It required a lot of hard work and dedication, not just from the students, but also from the outstanding instructor Frank Pera. When I began the program, my knowledge in plumbing was limited at best. I am now confident that I have the knowledge of a second year apprentice. I am very thankful to Skilled Trades College, as well as my Instructor Frank, who provided unwavering support to me and my classmates both during the course, and now on the job. He is always available to help us, to share his immense knowledge of the trade. I completed the course less than a month ago, and have already successfully completed small jobs on my own for satisfied customers, and have been registered under a master plumber as an apprentice in a well established mechanical company. I whole heartedly encourage anyone who is considering plumbing as their career to look no further than the Skilled Trades College of Canada and their incredible team.
